The famous BODY WORLDS creator, Dr. Gunther von Hagens, has expanded from human plastination to the animal kingdom as he presents his new exhibition, BODY WORLDS of Animals, at the Vienna Museum of Natural Sciences now through 7 March 2011.
“If humans were built like giraffes, we would be in permanent cardiac arrest”, explains von Hagens. “But the giraffe’s unique cardiovascular system allows it to overcome the challenges of its physique. Its heart and circulatory system work tirelessly to direct blood through its extremely long neck to the brain. Its special valve system enables it to switch from eating leaves off the tops of trees to drinking from a stream, without compromising its heart.”
